When I heard the news of the landmark vote on so-called health care reform in the House of Representatives last week, I looked at my wife and saw in her eyes a look of shock and dread.
What had our left-leaning Democratic representative, Gerald Connolly, done late last Saturday evening? He voted with the Democratic majority and a single Republican in the House of Representatives to
turn over control of one-sixth of our economy, our health care, to the government.
Well, if America is happy with Amtrak, the Postal Service, and the rollout of the H1N1 influenza vaccine, you will be pleased with a government-run health care system.
In order to protect the lawyers, this alleged health care reform legislation, which barely passed in the House of Representatives, has absolutely no tort or medical malpractice reform. Instead, the House
bill will only raise taxes, increase the national debt and provide medical care to illegal aliens. It will also reduce patient choice of doctors, restrict access to medical care, and decrease the overall quality
of health care. It is simply too much, too quick, at too high a cost. Plus, it is not fair to our Canadian neighbors. Where will they now go to get their much-needed health care?
After only five hours of debate the House of Representatives passed an approximately 2,000-page piece of legislation on a Saturday night. Now that’s Democrat lawmaking in action!
On behalf of all the hardworking taxpayers in America, I want to say to Mr. Connolly, thank you. I remember and I vote. I look forward to voting for your opponent in November 2010.
