Manassas Area Youth Football News

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Two Manassas area youth football clubs are playing this Saturday November 21st in the Washington Metropolitan Super Bowl Championships at Madison High School in Vienna. The Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL) Champion 75lb American Pride Warriors 9-1 coached by Joe Blount and the 150lb Manassas Sharks 10-0 coached by Brian Edwards will both play teams from Maryland to become 2009 Washington Metropolitan Champions. The 150lb Sharks play at 10:00 a.m. and the 75lb Warriors play at 4:30. The American Pride Warriors earned the right to play for the title by defeating perennial power house Chantilly Raiders by a score of 13-8 in a thrilling game last Saturday night. The score is not indicative of the dominating performance the Warriors displayed as they held the Raiders who averaged 36 points per game to one big play late in the 3rd quarter. The 75lb division is the flagship division of youth football in the FCYFL. It's the final year of complete participation by the kids in the 9-11 age group. As kids move up to 85 and 95 lb's respectively, the talent pool get's disseminated into Middle and High school. The 75lb American Pride Warriors are the #1 team out of 84 teams in the 75lb division and the first American Pride team to ever reach the Metro Super Bowl. They will play in the featured time slot (4:30pm) again this week. Many of the players from this championship team represent the future of Prince William County High School Football so give your support and encouragement to these up and coming athletes.
