Neighborhood news: Sounds like Christmas

The Woodbridge Community Choir and the Prince William Community Band will perform two Christmas concerts on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5.

The Woodbridge Community Choir and the Prince William Community Band will share the spotlight for two days as they perform two Christmas concerts. The first concert will be Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. at Freedom High School, and the second will be Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. at Our Lady of Angels Parish Hall. Concerts will feature old favorites like "Sleigh Ride" and "White Christmas" along with some new arrangements such as "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" and "The First Noel." Performances will be dedicated to the memory of Lillian Gaskill, whose vision was responsible for bringing together local church choirs for the first performance in 1966. Fruit sales

You may order fresh citrus fruit from the United Methodist Men from Cokesbury UMC. Deadline for ordering red grapefruit, navel oranges, tangerines and variety packs is Dec.7. To place an order, please call 703-494-7616. Orders may be picked up on Dec. 19 and 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Computer basics

Potomac Library is offering free classes on the basics of using a computer. Early registration is required as the classes fill up quickly. The Computer Basics class will be taught on Dec.1 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. You will learn the simple basics of computers and the internet. A $10 deposit is required to secure a place. The deposit will be returned to participants who attend the class.

Turkey Stomp - Gravy Splash

Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center will host its annual Thanksgiving day group fitness extravaganza, Turkey Stomp - Gravy Splash, on Nov. 26 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The fitness tradition is back by popular demand and will feature a whirlwind of fitness offerings in the gym, the pool and an aqua aerobics class. Cost is $15 in advance and $18 at the door. The first 50 participants will receive T-shirts. For more information, call 703-730-1060 or visit www.pwcparks.com.
