The inability of our transportation system to move people from one place to another in Northern Virginia is a seemingly intractable problem.
However, the real problem is not one of solutions but of a House of Delegates controlled by rural Republicans. In the areas that these head-in-the-sand politicians represent — southside, the Shenandoah
Valley and the Richmond suburbs — people don’t face 1-2 hour commutes and politicians don’t see the problem as one the “real” Virginians face.
These are the same politicians who squeal when they only get back $1.75 for each $1.00 their constituents send to Richmond, while Northern Virginia gets back about 60 cents for each dollar sent.
Until the House of Delegates is wrested away from the Republican Party of “no,” the commutes in Northern Virginia will only get worse. If you want real solutions and real progress in solving our commute
then re-elect Delegate Paul Nichols and elect Luke Torian in their respective races.
