Come out Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a day of family fun, auctions and entertainment to benefit Youth For Tomorrow, a residential youth home and private school for at-risk teenage boys and girls.
A live auction will offer 40 items, including vacation trips, NASCAR packages, jewelry and hard-to-find commodities.

You can also take part in a silent auction.

Kids may play on a variety of amusements and enjoy the petting zoo.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 16 and younger. Ages 3 and younger are admitted for free. YFT is located at 10105 Linton Hall Road. See youthfortomorrow.org for more information.

Scouts raise funds with popcorn

With high hopes, Cub Scout Pack 1384 kicked off its popcorn fundraiser last week at a meeting at Cedar Point Elementary.

Last year, Pack 1384 raised more than $13,000 from the popcorn sale. This year, the Scouts hope to raise $15,000.

They’ll sell door-to-door as well as at stands outside two Subway restaurants on Linton Hall Road.

Soil and Water District to host pond seminar

The Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District, in cooperation with the John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District and Virginia Cooperative Extension, will host a pond management seminar Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Poplar Springs Inn, 9245 Rogues Road in Casanova.

The cost is $20, which includes lunch. Registration is due by Oct. 23, and space is limited.

It’s Disability History and Awareness Month

October is Disability History and Awareness Month in Virginia.

Prompted by young Virginians with disabilities who are alumni of the Youth Leadership Forum, the month is dedicated to raising awareness that students with disabilities often encounter difficulty being accepted by peers.
