Why: Milling and overlay asphalt pavement
I-95 South Night Work

What: Two right lanes closed*
Where: I-95 south, from Exit 163, Lorton Road (Va. 642) to Exit 160, Gordon Boulevard (Va. 123)
Why: Overhead sign work

Where: I-95 HOV from Exit 163, Lorton Road (Va. 642) to Exit 160, Gordon Boulevard (Va. 123)
Why: Setting barriers and overhead sign work
VDOT is adding a fourth general purpose lane to I-95 in each direction from Route 123 just before the Occoquan River to the Fairfax County Parkway. The agency said this will relieve chronic bottlenecking and improve traffic flow to and from the Springfield Interchange. Construction of the six-mile widening project began in early 2008 and will be completed by late fall 2011.
