ArtBeat Gallery in Manassas is displaying "Little Pleasures," a series of new works by featured artist Maria Briganti.
Visitors can meet the artist at a reception in the gallery Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Briganti, raised in Austria, was exposed to a rich heritage of art and culture from an early age.
"My artistic pursuits were set aside during the years of raising children," she said, but she took them up again "as soon as the 'baby' was old enough to drive."
Since then, she has gone on to become a charter member of ArtBeat, and is also active in the Manassas Art Guild, the Prince William Art Society and the Lorton Workhouse Art Center.
She chose the theme "Little Pleasures" for her exhibit, she said "as a reminder of what can be enjoyable in life throughout our busy work and family schedules. We need to take time for ourselves and learn to relax, enjoy places we have been able to visit and treasure gifts that others have given us. Time is short and fleeting moments can be special."
ArtBeat is located at 9407 Main St. in Old Town Manassas. "Little Pleasures" will be on view through Nov. 1.
