A “Kitten, Cat and Puppy Adoption Extravaganza” will be held Saturday at the Southern States store in Manassas.
Kittens, adult cats and puppies will be available for adoption at the store, 9751 Center St.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is sponsored by Commonwealth Cat Rescue Inc. of Oakton. The adoption fair will feature rescue cats and kittens of various ages and several young puppies.
“We will have virtually every type of cat and kitten that anyone would want,” said Chris Haslam with Cat Rescue.
There will be “long haired, semi-long haired and domestic shorthaired in a variety of colors-black, orange, gray and white, tabbies, patch-cats and tuxedos,” Haslam said. “All of these cats and kittens have been vaccinated against distemper and all have been de-wormed. Cats and older kitten will have been vaccinated for rabies as well.”
Puppies are from a variety of litters, but all are healthy, well-socialized and ready to become a part of family life.
“We are hoping for an enthusiastic turnout similar to that in the previous events recently held in Manassas and also Middleburg. All of these events were fantastic,” said Haslam. “We had a lot of good adoptions to both families and seniors alike. This was all due to the wonderful response of the residents of the surrounding communities.”
All of the kittens and cats can be selected on the adoption site, and many may be able to be taken home the same day. Others will be delivered to the adoptive families home within a day or two.
“We are asking all potential adopters to consider some of the wonderful adult and other cats, as these need homes and are more difficult to place that kittens,” Haslam concluded.
