Community Thrift of Manassas is celebrating its 10th anniversary of providing deals for its customers and providing jobs for individuals with disabilities.
Special sales will be offered throughout Saturday at the store at 8906 Centreville Road.
“We are the best-kept secret in Manassas, offering some of the best deals in town on clothing, furniture and other household items,” said Cindy Wells, store operations and development.
Community Thrift is a non-profit organization affiliated with ServiceSource Inc., which has been dedicated to providing adults with disabilities valued employment, training and support services for more than 30 years.
John Baker, vice president of operations and one of the founders of Community Thrift, said, “We have done very well during the past decade, providing productive employment for a lot of disabled people who otherwise would not have had a job.”
Hattie Payne, who has been working at the store for nine years, said, “I’ve always enjoyed being part of the work force at the shop. We are like a big family, giving support to each other when needed.”
Wells said the store takes in between 800 and 1,000 items a day, prices them and puts them out for sale.
“We try to use every item donated to us,” she said.
The store offers a customer referral program, which allows clients to earn points toward discounts on store items. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Customers can also participate in sales with a frequent buyer card and the e-mail club.
