The Prince William SPCA is hosting the Fourth Annual Pet Adopt-A-Thon and Expo on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sean T. Connaughton Community Plaza adjacent to the McCoart Building's County Complex in Prince William. The community is invited to visit with the area's leading rescue groups and shelters to find their next pet.

The following humane organizations will have pets available for adoption: Akita Rescue Mid-Atlantic Coast Inc., All 4 the Animals Rescue, Cats Rule Feline Rescue, Collie Rescue Inc., GRREAT, Mid-Atlantic English Springer Spaniel Rescue, Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue, Orange County Animal Shelter, Pets Limited Rescue of Virginia, Prince William County Animal Shelter and Woodbridge Cats.

The Pet Expo will showcase more than 20 pet-related booths from pet photographers to doggy daycares. Rabies vaccinations will be offered at $12 each and pets can also be micro-chipped for $25.

Plenty of fall activities are planned including free souvenir photos, dog cookie decorating and Halloween parade. Kids will love the large activity area with face painting, pumpkin decorating, sand art, crafts, games and a moonbounce. There also will be food booths, contests for dogs and a charity dog walk at noon to benefit the Prince William SPCA's Neuter Commuter.

This event takes place rain or shine. Admission is free with a pet food donation. Families and friendly dogs are welcome. Visit www.pwspca.org for more information.

Talent show

There will be a talent show hosted by Yes You Can! Young Lady-Young Man on Saturday. They are looking for talent (soloists, bands, groups, dancers, steppers and poets) from ages 10 to 18. The event will be held at Mayfield Intermediate School, 8550 Signal Hill Road, Manassas, at 5 p.m. Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers.

They anticipate this show to assist them in funding their second annual 10-week Life Cycle Program which they run during the summer. The program incorporates financial management, self discovery, etiquette, resume writing and career building. Feel free to visit their Web site at www.yycylym.com.
