Heritage Hunt residents walk and run for a cure, raise $3,000
A total of 190 Heritage Hunt residents and guests walked and ran for a cure for cancer at Heritage Hunt in September, netting about $3,000.
Local sponsors included The Running Store, Shoppers Food Warehouse, Giant Food and the Virginia chapter of Relay for Life.
"Many of the participants were cancer survivors or spouses and friends of cancer victims," said Dick Powell, coordinator. "Some came from California, Georgia and Pennsylvania to honor the memory of their loved ones who died from cancer."
Despite light rain, participants still took on the 3.1-mile course.
Front runners were Vince Heishman and Heidi Shink. The fastest runner was Heishman with his son, Ethan.
Front walkers were Jane Becker, Lynn Levvis, Ken Duck, Susan Moore and Leticia Kenty. The fastest female run-ner was Shink, the second fastest, Susan Lucas. The fastest walker was A.J. Jones.
Congratulations to all those who donated time and effort for a cure.
