An opening reception for “From Cows to Condos,” a new exhibit tracing the transformation of the region from agricultural to suburban, will be held at the Manassas Museum on Oct. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m.
As part of the opening, Prince William County Fair founders Joe Johnson, Kemp Clemen, Robert Beahm, Robert Tyrrell and Sidney Flickinger will sign copies of the new book, “Prince William County Fair, Farms Forever, Forever Farms, Celebrating 60 Years.” The book is available at Echoes, the Manassas Museum store.
Museum director John Verrill and curator Roxana Adams will offer their insights about artifacts and ideas on the exhibit. The reception is free and refreshments will be served.
The exhibit is part of the heritage series “From Cows to Condos” that uses educational programs and interactive learning to educate students and museum visitors about the significant changes in the county through the years.
“A Heritage Farm Day” at Liberia Plantation on Oct. 24 and a traveling truck available for rent by educators, are part of the series.
“From Cows to Condos” is open during the museum’s regular hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through May 15, 2010 and is included with admission. For more information, call 703-368-1873.
