LETTER: Relieve Nichols of his duty

»  Comments | Post a Comment

I am so tired of politicians who make campaign promises and then vote completely contrary to those promises. Two years ago, Paul Nichols talked much about bringing Northern Virginia tax dollars back
to Northern Virginia. His big promise: to relieve the congestion on Interstate 95. Since his election, we hadn’t seen or heard from him again until this re-election campaign (stuck in traffic?). The good thing
for Paul is that he doesn’t have to come up with any new campaign promises since all his past promises still remain to be fulfilled.

In the seven years I’ve known him, I have noted that Rich is a man who says what he means and does what he says. From the outset Rich told me that he was determined to talk with as many Prince
William County residents as possible. At last count he has knocked on over 23,000 doors. I am sure more people have seen Rich over the last eight months than have seen Paul Nichols since he entered
office.

Rich has dedicated his life to serving his country. Veterans know that nobody ever got rich in the military and that life is about more than themselves. Learning these truths comes at a great price: family
separations, remote postings, and incredibly long hours, to name a few. Rich has shown that he will sacrifice much in order to serve his country.

I’ve read all the accusations the Nichols campaign has thrown at Richard Anderson and it only confirms what I’ve known for a long time … if the Nichols campaign can’t find something true to say they’re
more than willing to make something up. It’s time Paul got relieved of duty and we put someone in the House who will actually work for the people of Prince William County.
