The exhibit "New Artists! New Works!" will begin at the Loft Gallery in Occoquan on Sept. 8 and run through Oct. 2.

The work of eight new artists will be spotlighted and will be part of the town of Occoquan's Art Walk, which begins Sept. 12.

The Loft Gallery will spotlight the work of the new artists at a welcoming reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 12. Many of the shops in Occoquan will remain open until 8 p.m. as part of the Art Walk.

The new artists at the Loft Gallery include: Tony DiFrancesco, sculpture; Tom Billone, photography; Kelly Denise Morrow, graphite; Patty Ukele, pastel; Lisa Neher, oil; Deena Hunkler-Sanks, Trompe L'Oeil; and Deborah Conn, watercolor.

The loft will also be opening a new exhibit titled "Paper Moon," original watercolors by Jane Gillette from Oct. 3 through Nov. 1. A Chocolate and Champagne Reception will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 3.

The loft will also host a Halloween Party Wrap-up from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 31.

"Paper Moon" is designed to provide a glimpse of whimsical watercolors embellished with beautiful papers to brighten up your day and make you smile. It brings happiness, romance, peace and calm to your life, according to the gallery owners.

In 1986, the Loft Gallery began in a tiny room above what used to be a general store in historic Occoquan.

Marcia Weidler and Jackie Paetzold, along with several others, hung a few paintings on the walls and opened the door to their new gallery.

Today, the Loft Gallery occupies the entire second floor at 313 Mill St. and includes the adjoining Loft Art Center studios and class room.

Exhibiting quality fine art by local artists remains the mission of the gallery.

The 20 gallery artists are committed to their work and look forward to sharing it when they greet you. Original oil, watercolor, and acrylic paintings, fine art photography and colored pencil, sculpture and original prints fill the gallery.

The Loft Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 703-490-1117.
