The Prince William Conservation Alliance is offering "Early Explorers," a series of nature classes for children ages 4 to 6, at Merrimac Farm Wildlife Management Area.

By examining topics including trees, animal homes, birds, the forest floor and seasonal changes, children will de-velop a stronger connection with the outdoor world while having fun with peers.

Each morning will begin with a story or poem, followed by a discovery walk. The budding naturalists will then create art related to the day's adventure.

Registration is now open for the next six-week session, which begins Sept. 22. Two class times are offered: 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Each class can have a maximum of eight participants. The $70 registration fee covers all materials.

For more information or to register, check online at pw conserve.org, call PWCA at 703-499-4954, or e-mail alli-ance@pw conserve.org

A special thanks

to Cindy Abel from FUN

Friends Uniting Nokesville thanks volunteer coordinator Cindy Abel for effectively and efficiently initiating and running the yard sale held at Nokesville Farmers' Market.

"She did it with style and a smile," FUN president Pablo Teodoro said. "It is neighbors like her that demonstrate the big heart of our little community."

FUN is seeking suggestions for more events and activities. If you have an idea, or if your Nokesville organization, group, church or family has an event you would like promoted (for free), contact Teodoro at 703-794-7057 or at 703-401-8128.

Also be sure to check out the Nokesville community Web site at www.myNokesville.org. Follow FUN on Twitter @myNokesville and check out Nokesville on Facebook.

Bristow support group for the grieving

If you have lost a spouse, child, family member or friend, you may have found there are not many people who un-derstand the deep hurt you feel.

GriefShare is a special seminar and support group for those grieving the loss of someone close.

It allows those who are grieving to be with people who understand and who want to offer comfort and encourage-ment during this difficult time.

It is also an opportunity for those who have been through the classic GriefShare program to get further support, if needed.

A new GriefShare series will be held at Manassas Assembly of God Church, 11500 New Life Way on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. beginning Sept. 23.

Adults and teens are welcome.

Call Chaplain Liz Danielsen at 540-349-5814 for directions and/or information.

GriefShare is sponsored by Spiritual Care Support Ministry and is nondenominational and free.
