Metro announces Columbus Day closures

»  Comments | Post a Comment

WASHINGTON (AP) — Metro will close three stations on the green and yellow lines over the Columbus Day weekend next month for track work.

Metro said Tuesday that the Waterfront-SEU and Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter stations will shut down from 9:30 p.m. Oct. 9 until 5 a.m. Oct. 13. There will also be no green and yellow line service at L'Enfant Plaza and no yellow line service in the District of Columbia or Maryland. Free shuttle buses will help transport passengers.

The announcement of the closures a month in advance comes after the transit agency was criticized for giving late notice of plans to close stations over the Labor Day weekend.
