Two women charged
in shoplifting case
Two women were charged with grand larceny and petit larceny after police said they stole a total of $320 worth of merchandise from a store in Woodbridge.
Police were called to investigate a shoplifting call in the 13700 block of Foulger Square at 4:20 p.m. on Friday, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.
Marie Calvert, 18, of 15816 Donald Curtis Drive and Tracy Amelia Sites, 19, of 13303 Maple Leaf Lane, both in Woodbridge, were arrested and then released on summons.
Sites was charged with stealing $250 in merchandise and Calvert was charged with stealing $60 in mer-chandise.
Sites was released on a $5,000 bond.
Both women are scheduled to appear in court Oct. 23.
Dale City man jailed after filing false police report
A Dale City man was charged with falsely summoning police and with filing a false police report.
Officers were called at 2 p.m. Sunday to a home in the 4300 unit block of Wabash Lane in Dale City.
The man who called them, 50-year-old Richard Harry Hammond Jr., told police that he was assaulted by a friend. The investigation revealed that didn't happen, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.
Hammond was held on a $1.500 bond. His court date was not released.
