The man accused of killing Sergio Alfonso in August is also accused of attacking him months earlier, court records show.
A grand jury in Prince William Circuit Court this week indicted Deonte Donnell Robertson, of 8093 Portwood Turn near Manassas, on a charge of aggravated malicious wounding.
In a criminal complaint on file in Prince William Circuit Court, police said Robertson punched and kicked Alfonso at a 7-Eleven at 8375 Sudley Road in the Manassas area March 15.
According to the complaint, Robertson hit Alfonso several times in the face with his fists and kicked him in the head after he fell to the ground. Robertson then fled the scene, police said.
About five months later, on Aug. 14, Alfonso was killed in front of his house in the 8100 block of Community Drive.
Police believe Robertson, who is still at large, is responsible for Alfonso’s murder.
Police said Alfonso was married to Robertson’s ex-girlfriend, who is the mother of Robertson’s two children.
Robertson went to the Alfonso’s house that night to speak to the mother of his children, police said.
When Robertson and the woman began to argue, Alfonso attempted to intervene, according to court documents.
In an affidavit, police said Robertson then left the house and returned with a metal pipe, which he used to hit Al-fonso several times before fleeing the scene on foot.
Alfonso died from his injuries.
Police are still searching for Robertson and have posted a video on YouTube asking for the public’s help in finding him.
The video shows several pictures of Robertson and encourages anyone with information on Robertson’s where-abouts to call police.
