Police get assistance

in recovering stolen van


A man stole a car while he was at a party in Woodbridge, and that another man helped police find him, police said.

A black 1999 Ford Windstar valued at $5,000 was taken from a home in the 1600 block of Maurice Drive. The owner said he parked his car in the driveway and then watched a man get inside the van and drive away, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

After police arrived they used the help of another man to locate the van, which had been parked in a restaurant parking lot off U.S. 1. Later the man returned to the van and police were waiting to arrest him, said Hernan-dez.

Junior Hernandez Villion, 22, was charged with grand larceny. Police said the man has no address.

Villion was held on a $5,000 bond. His court date was not released.

Man charged with pubic intoxication, weapons

A Dumfries man was charged with possession of a concealed weapon and public intoxication on Sunday. Police were called to the 17900 block of Maine Street in Dumfries for a report of an intoxicated man.

When they arrived, they arrested 50-year-old Tommy Clifton Baggett of 17882 Main Street in Dumfries on the public intoxication charge. When officers searched Baggett, they found a hatchet and a knife concealed on him, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

He was released on a summons and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 26.

Woodbridge couple faces cocaine charges

A Woodbridge couple was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine on Sept. 3. Police saw suspicious activ-ity about 9:15 p.m. in the area of Kentucky Avenue and Featherstone Road and went to investigate, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

During the investigation, the officer found cocaine and arrested and charged Andre Sylvester Dabney, 49, of 14810 Dyer Drive and Shannon Joanna Rose, 32, of 14797 Tamarack Place, both in Woodbridge.

Dabney was held without bond and Rose was held on a $7,500 bond. Both are scheduled in court on Oct. 5.

Two face cocaine, intoxication charges

A police officer saw suspicious activity about 11:40 a.m. on Sept. 4 in the 17900 block of Featherstone Road in Woodbridge and went to investigate.

The officer found two people, both from Woodbridge, who were intoxicated, said Prince William police spokes-woman Erika Hernandez.

The officer searched the two and found cocaine, said Hernandez.

Delvin Roderick Lott, 32, of 6262 Tenor Court and Derrick Demario Harris, 29, of 3104 Tulip Tree Place, both in Woodbridge, were each charged with possession of cocaine and public intoxication.

They were both held on a $2,000 bond. Their court date was not released.

Maryland woman faces cocaine charges

A woman who police said was causing a ruckus at a local restaurant was charged with possession of co-caine.

Police were called to the eatery, in the 1500 block of Cherry Hill Road near Dumfries, about 2:30 a.m. Mon-day.

When they got there they arrested Kristin Nichole Dixon, 28, of Ft. Washington, Md., who was charged with public intoxication. It wasn't until after police searched her that they found the drugs, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

Dixon was held on a $3,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 17.

Woodbridge woman charged with shoplifting

A woman was charged with walking out of a Woodbridge store without paying for $1,662.22 in merchandise on Sept. 5.

Police were called at 2:45 p.m. to the 2400 block of Prince William Parkway for a shoplifting report, where they arrested 26-year-old Takia Marie Nelson on the charge.

She is also accused of providing false identification, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernan-dez.

She was held on $6,000 bond. Her court date was not released.

Police: Man threw chair and hit woman on nose

Police charged a woman they said hit someone on the nose with a chair on Monday.

Luis Angel Mejia Miranda, 49, of Ashland Avenue near Manassas, was arrested and charged with malicious wound-ing, after police said he got into an argument with someone and then threw a chair at them, causing a laceration on the victim's nose.

It happened about 12:10 p.m. in the 8000 block of Ashland Avenue, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

Miranda was held on $3,000 bond. His court date was not released.Teen charged in robbery, police search for addi-tional suspects

A 17-year-old was charged with strong armed robbery after police said he attacked a man at Tackett's Mill in Lake Ridge.

The 42-year-old victim, a Woodbridge man, was talking on his cell phone just before 4 p.m. when he was attacked from behind, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

The man was thrown the ground and held down by at least one person, said Hernandez.

Others searched the man's pockets and took his cell phone, wallet and some personal documents and then ran off, said Hernandez.

A lookout was broadcast among police officers in the area and Prince William County Police Officer Samuel Ed-monds stopped a 17-year-old boy who matched the description given for one of the suspects. An investigation re-vealed that the teenager, along with three others, robbed the victim, said Hernandez.

The 17-year-old was arrested on the named charges and was taken to the juvenile detention center. He is scheduled to appear in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

The victim did not get his cell phone, wallet or documents back. He was not injured during the robbery and police continue to look for the other two suspects in the case.
