Chief Master Sgt. Sadie L. McAfee-Knight has retired from the U.S. Air Force after 30 years of faithful service.
Prior to retiring, McAfee-Knight served as a health services manager and functional manager assigned to the 88th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio.
She served as a certified facilitator conducting value stream assessments, process sequence mapping, or other process improvement activities for improved efficiencies; was responsible for planning, scheduling and facilitating events within timetables and priorities set by higher management and served as an advisor, mentor, and coordinator of rapid improvement events. She advised major command and staff on utilization and training issues and coordinated on all staffing and manpower matters.
McAfee-Knight joined the Air Force in 1979. After completing basic training and career field technical training, she served in various administrative and management positions which included duties as group and squadron superintendent, director of noncommissioned officer preparatory development, first sergeant, senior enlisted advisor, a certified bereavement counselor, group notary, and medical squadron superintendent. She served at military installations in the Azores, Germany, Japan, Spain, Arkansas, Hawaii, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Ohio.
McAfee-Knight is the daughter of Stella Hysten of Triangle, and the sister of Kelvin and James Liddess of Jackson, Miss.
She is the niece of Gloria Boyd and Jestine Graise of Jackson.
Her major military decorations and awards include the National Defense Service Medal, four awards of the Meritorious Service Medal, three awards of the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Air Force Recognition Medal, and seven Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards.
The chief master sergeant is a 1979 graduate of Provine Senior High School, Jackson. She received an associate degree in 2007 from the University Maryland, European Division, and a bachelor’s degree in 2008 from Wilberforce University, Ohio.
