Just around the corner, it will soon be time for the annual LRPRA Yard Sale for the community. You can rent a space for $15, and the outdoor event will be set up in the lot at 12350 Oakwood Drive in Lake Ridge on Sept. 26.

Middle school to hold open house
Lake Ridge Middle School holds an open house for parents on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. This is your time to find out about your student's school, meet the teachers and get helpful information about the new school year.
Woodbridge Kiwanis sponsoring leadership, service clubs
Student-led clubs focusing on leadership and service are available at several local schools and are sponsored by Woodbridge Kiwanis Club.
Through participation in these clubs, students have many opportunities for leadership development, vocational guidance and other activities.
Information about these clubs is available from the guidance department at your school. Woodbridge Senior High School and Woodbridge Middle School are among those locations where the clubs are held, and there is no athletic skill or musical talent needed to join.
Find new friends and have fun helping others through Key Club or Builders Club events.
AAUW's delicious dish
The AAUW Fall Potluck will be held on Sept. 26 at 12:30 p.m., at the home of member Jeanne Elmore.
Prospective members are encouraged to attend and learn about the fellowship and activities of the local branch of American Association of University Women. Since 1881, AAUW has been a leading voice for advancing equity for women and girls through education and research.

Unlock your inner writer at Chinn Park program
"Time to Write: Discover the Writer Within" is the theme of a free program at Chinn Park library from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, led by author Frank Milligan.
Have you wanted to learn more about the writing process? Are you a writer already, or a writer-to-be? This is a program that you can relate to. You'll learn about what it takes to make a story.
Milligan has published both fiction and non-fiction. There will be time for questions and answers. Register at the library or call 703-792-4800.
Artist demonstration
Artist Tuula Ross will demonstrate how to prepare and use scratchboard at this month's meeting of Prince William Art Society. If you'd like to attend, please feel welcome.
The meeting is free and will be held at Canterbury Woods Community Center in Lake Ridge at 7:30 p.m. Wednes-day.
