The New Dominion Choraliers of Prince William County and the Woodbridge Rotary Club invite the public to join them at their annual joint fundraising event, the SerenAid/Walk of Fame, on Saturday at Westminster Senior Center in Lake Ridge.
The dinner/dance and fun night out begins at 6 p.m. For reservations, call 703-590-2147, 703-590-3995, or 703-498-8906. The group recently shot a video at Comcast with producer/director Liz Lockard. It will air on Channel 2.
The SerenAid/Walk of Fame is a very unique event in our county. The "Seren" refers to the music and the "Aid" represents the fundraising. The "Walk of Fame" posthumously honors two people each year for their outstanding contributions to the quality of life in Prince William County.
Last year's honorees were James John McCoart and the Rev. Frederick Lacy Ray.
Come and celebrate the unveiling of the traveling display of the Prince William County Walk of Fame. This display is presented as an inspirational example for county residents of all ages and will be placed in various locations around the county, such as local Boys and Girls Clubs, schools, churches, libraries and other public buildings.
SerenAid/Walk of Fame benefits many local charities by raising much-needed funds. Times are tough for everyone and they're even tougher for those in need.
The Choraliers and Rotary are proud that they have raised more than $50,000 through SerenAid to help people in the community. The New Dominion Choraliers donate their portion of the funds to ACTS/Turning Points and the Woodbridge Rotary Club donates to the many community organizations that it works with throughout the year.
In addition to their regularly scheduled concerts, the Choraliers perform at other venues around the county and the surrounding region throughout the year.
On Sept. 26, a small group will sing the National Anthem at the opening ceremonies of the 5th Annual Prince William County Arthritis Walk, which the Choraliers have been doing since the first Walk in 2005. For more informa-tion or to participate in the walk, visit www.arthritiswalkpw.kintera.org .
On Oct. 3, they will perform with the American Balalaika Symphony at the Schlesinger Concert Hall at the Alexandria Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.
On Nov. 8, they will present a Veterans Day concert at Four Seasons at Historic Virginia near Montclair and this year's holiday concert will be at the Hylton Chapel on Dec. 5 and 6.
The New Dominion Choraliers rehearse on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. at Old Bridge United Methodist Church in Lake Ridge.
