»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Bands Along the Occoquan competition will be Sept. 19 beginning at 4 p.m.

Twelve bands are expected to perform on the field at C.D. Hylton High School. The bands will be judged and earn trophies based on the size of the band or class in which they enter.

This competition is normally the first that various bands have the opportunity to perform their seasonal show. The bands this year will include those from Prince William County, Richmond and Maryland.

The bands will range in size from Class A like Gar-Field High School, to Class AAA like Potomac High School, to the even larger Class AAAA, such as Battlefield High School.

The C.D. Hylton Marching Bull Dawgs will perform an exhibition and be the first to perform. The event is open to the public and tickets cost $6.

All proceeds go to the C.D. Hylton Marching Bull Dawg Band Booster organization. This organization is funding a trip to New York to perform at the United Nations on Nov. 20. Additionally, the Band Boosters recently purchased new drums for the percussion section.

Bake sale items and concessions will be provided during the event. Spirtware clothing will also be available. This is the first time the event will be held under the direction of the new C.D. Hylton High School Band Director, Chris Anderson. For more information, see the Hylton Band Web site at www.hyltonband.com.
