This is in reference to an editorial put out by the News & Messenger on a program that gave free books to inmates. The program was discontinued.
I thought prison was to rehabilitate people who took the wrong turn. What better way to help them than to give them books so they can learn the right way to live?
How sad the prison will not allow a bookstore to GIVE the prisoner books.
Prisoners should be allowed books. There have been many prisoners who have gotten out of jail by reading law books and proving their innocence. We need prisoners to learn and better themselves.
