State police on Monday released a composite sketch of the culprit who carjacked and kidnapped a Gainesville woman outside the Target last week.
Investigators worked with the victim and a crime scene analyst with Prince William County police to create the sketch.
The man is black with a light-skinned complexion, about 25 to 30 years-old, six foot tall, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved, light-colored dress shirt, khaki pants with white socks and black shoes. He was also wearing a blue knit cap with a white stripe across it.
The carjacking happened Thursday about 9 p.m. The victim was walking to her car when a gunman approached and forced her to get inside.
A short time later, Trooper A.L. McInnes spotted the victim’s vehicle, a 2009 Dodge Journey, as it was traveling on Interstate 495 south and before it crossed the Woodrow Wilson Bridge into Prince George’s County, Md. The car got off the interstate and pulled into the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant, before eventually losing control of the vehicle – striking a concrete median and crashing.
The culprit ran away on foot and police were unable to find him. The victim was treated for minor injuries.
State police are asking anyone who may have been in the area, or who may recognize the composite, to call them at 703-803-0026.
