I live in the 10th Congressional District, but am very close to the 11th CD and see the outreach efforts of each member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Currently Health Care Reform is a very hot topic. There have been several attempts to rationally discuss the issues on the myriad of bills pending in Congress and it seems that the House of
Representatives is going to have a big part to play in the final shape of this legislation. The bottom line is that there is a huge difference between the two congressmen who represent Prince William,
starting with their willingness to listen to constituents. (I don’t know what 1st CD Rep. Rob Whitman is doing; I assume nothing, because he’s never mentioned)
My Congressman, Frank Wolf, has had a stunning ZERO events to listen to us. Two “Telephone Town Halls” have been “scheduled” but continue to have TBA relative to time and place. Bottom line?
Nothing from the “Party of NO”.
Congressman Connolly on the other hand has given his constituents multiple opportunities to have in person and alternative kinds of input to the process. He has:
— Had two district wide telephone town halls
— An Office open house in Woodbridge
— Lake Ridge/Occoquan Rotary Forum
— A meeting at Heritage Hunt, and he even answered questions at last weekend’s Haymarket Days Parade.
Frank Wolf, nothing! Is Congressman Wolf getting ready to announce his retirement? It sure looks like it, due to the appearance of his outreach efforts being on life support. Frank Wolf previously was
known for constituent service. Now he’s just known for being missing.
