Budget recap set for Tuesday

»  Comments | Post a Comment

With the public hearings behind them, Prince William supervisors will now move to the final stages of fiscal 2011 budget planning, as recap is set for today.
This is the time for board members to take input from the public hearings, as well as the most recent figures from state and federal governments, and from local revenue tallies, and adjust accordingly. The board is scheduled to adopt the final budget and tax rate — now advertised at $1.236 — on April 27.
The fiscal 2011 budget goes into effect July 1.

Supervisors will also receive separate presentations Tuesday from officials with the state and county transportation departments.

Projects currently under construction in the county include improvements to the Featherstone Road rail crossing in Woodbridge; construction at the Interstate 66 High Occupancy Vehicle Lane in Gainesville; bridge widening over Neabsco Creek in Woodbridge; and road widening of the section of Interstate 95 that runs from the Fairfax County Parkway to Va. 123 through Occoquan and Woodbridge.

All these projects — except the I-95 widening — are projected for completion this year. The I-95 road work has an anticipated completion in September 2011, according to background documents to the board.

The board meeting begins at 2 p.m. at the McCoart Administration Building. Supervisors are then scheduled to tour the Hylton Performing Arts Center at 5 p.m.
