DALE CITY, Va. -- WaterWorks Waterpark was vandalized for the second time in a week Wednesday night.
Vandals broke into the water park at Andrew Leitch Park in Dale City, sometime between 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday and threw chairs and lifeguard stands into the pool, Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.
Police believe the incident is related to a vandalism that happened at the park at 5301 Dale Blvd., between 10 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.
That night, vandals broke into a freezer in the water park and threw frozen hamburger patties, french fries, pretzels, chairs, tables, trash cans and lifeguard stands in the pool.
The damage to the park after that vandalism was estimated at $16,000.
The water park was closed Saturday and Sunday while park employees drained, sanitized and refilled the pool.
The latest incident did not cause extensive damage or cause the park to close, officials said.
