An assistant Prince William County prosecutor has been charged with drunken driving and drug possession in Fairfax County.

Douglas Bradley Marshall, 32, of Haymarket, was arrested Dec. 11, court records show.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of a schedule 1 or 2 narcotic and refusing a breathalyzer test.

Police conducted a traffic stop and stopped Marshall's car on Interstate 66 near Va. 29 in Centreville at 2:55 a.m.. on Dec. 11, said Fairfax police spokeswoman Tawny Wright.

A police officer saw an open container of alcohol and pills in the car, Wright said.

He was released on his own recognizance and is due in Fairfax General District Court on Jan. 26, according to court records.

Prince William County Commonwealth's Attorney Paul Ebert said Marshall -- who has been with his office for a about a year -- continues to prosecute cases pending the outcome of his trial.

"He's a good prosecutor," Ebert said.
