Update, 11:30 p.m.
Prince William County police have charged an Arlington woman with killing 41-year-old Slavka P. Naydenova and her son, 8-year-old Paul A. Wilson, in their Dale City home.

Natalia Wilson, 47, was charged with two counts of murder on Tuesday. Naydenova and her son were found dead in the 4500 block of Hanover Court after 11 p.m. Monday.

Police say Natalia Wilson knew the victims and is being held without bond. It was unclear if Wilson is related to the 8-year-old victim. Police released no other details late Tuesday.

DALE CITY Va. -- Residents in Dale City’s Hillendale section say the swirling lights of police cruisers flashed through their windows all night as officers investigated the apparent murders of a 41-year-old woman and her 8-year-old son.

Police say Slavka P. Naydenova and her young son, Paul A. Wilson, were killed in their home at 4501 Hanover Court late Monday. Naydenova’s husband and a friend of his came home just after 11 p.m. to find them. Police would not release how the mother and son died.

Investigators said Naydenova’s husband does not appear to be a suspect. Police also said there were no signs of forced entry. No arrests had been made Tuesday evening.

“This case is still under investigation, but it does not appear to be a random killing,” said Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Paul Ebert. He would not elaborate.

Paul Wilson was a second-grader at Mary G. Porter Traditional School in Woodbridge. County schools spokesman Ken Blackstone said crisis counselors were on hand and an informational letter about the murders was sent home to parents.

“We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Paul Wilson and his mother, Mrs. Slavka Naydenova,” said school principal Darci Whitehead.

The home where the murders occurred was purchased in 2000 by Slavka Naydenova and real estate records show her as the current owner of the home. It’s not clear if Naydenova lived at the Hanover Court address.

Sources said Naydenova owned several properties in the region and paid her mortgages by renting room to immigrants.

Neighbors who live next door to the home said they rarely saw the woman and the child outdoors, but said the father, Lester, is a nice man. Neighbors said he worked a series of odd jobs and also worked in real estate.

“He waved at me about two weeks ago and asked me if I was my father, and then I told him ’no he’s inside the house,’ and then he asked me to tell him hello,” said 24-year-old Rudy Turcios.

Turcios’ father, Francisco, said seeing all of the police outside his home last night came as a surprise.

“I was inside watching my TV and I was like ’what is going on?’”

James Buchanan saw police everywhere as he drove home from work.

“I saw them last night and then I drove past this morning and they were still there,” said Buchanan. “I moved here in 1980 and now this in my neighborhood, it’s concerning.”

A police officer remained stationed outside the home Tuesday. In the home’s snow-covered backyard stood a playground.
