The Prince William County School Board will hear Superintendent Steven L. Walts' 2010-11 and Capital Improvement Plan budgets Wednesday.
The school board will hold a public hearing on the budget Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Stonewall Jackson High School auditorium. Speakers can sign up to talk for up to two minutes, starting at 5 p.m. until the last speaker that night.
After Wednesday, the budget will be posted online at www.pwcs.edu.
The board is slated to approve a budget March 17 and will present it to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in April.
All signs point to a grim budget, with the state facing a $4.2 billion shortfall and the school division grappling with an influx of students this school year. As of Sept. 30, the school division had 2,000 more new students than originally anticipated.
