Chamber holds monthly luncheon, other programs
"Marketing with an Edge" is the topic of the monthly luncheon meeting of the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 17 at 11:30 a.m. at Old Hickory Golf Club, 11921 Chanceford Drive, Woodbridge.
Those attending can discover how to use the latest marketing tools to promote their business in 2010. A panel of speakers will focus on social media, Internet marketing, relationship building and virtual trade-shows.
Other programs for the month include "Entrepreneur Express" on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Mason Enterprise Center, 10900 University Blvd., in Manassas; Hot Topics "Team Up to Win Gov-ernment Contracts" on Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. at the chamber office; a ribbon cutting at Next Care Urgent Care, 3990 Fettler Park Drive, Dumfries, on Wednesday at 3 p.m.; Business After Hours at Potomac Place Assisted Living on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.; and Legislative Leaders Breakfast "Meet Con-gressman Connolly" at Feb. 18 at 8 a.m. at Old Hickory Golf Club.
Harris Teeter celebrates 50th anniversary
Harris Teeter, with stores in Prince William County, is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The firm has 194 stores, with three more opening by Feb. 10. Harris Super Markets and Teeter's Food Mart joined forces in February 1960 and Harris Teeter is now the 35th largest supermarket in the United States.
It's headquartered in Charlotte, N.C.
Local women join direct sales company
Two local residents have become independent consultants with Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct sales company featuring more than 60 easy-to-prepare foods.
They are Jenna Milligan of Bristow and Samira Fredericks of Manassas.
'Strikes for SERVE'
to be held in March
The 2010 "Strikes for SERVE" bowl-a-thon, one of the organization's annual fundrais-ers, will be held March 13 at Bowl America, 9000 Mathis Ave., Manassas.
Bowling sessions will be at 1 and 4:30 p.m.

The community can support the event by becoming a sponsor or forming a five-member bowling team. The goal is $30,000.
Hospital auxiliary to hold fundraiser today
Prince William Hospital Auxiliary will hold its first fundraiser of the year today from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Conference Room C on the fourth floor of the hospital's main building.
The event is a book fair featuring books, notecards and gift ideas.

Singer-songwriter
to perform
at Tommy's Place
Tommy's Place, 8910 Mathis Ave., Manassas, will host singer-songwriter Jay D. Henley tonight and Saturday at 9 p.m.
Henley and his band, Stone Broke Band, has opened for several national recording artists, including Lon-estar, Keith Urban, Trace Adkins, Craig Morgan, John Rich, Gretchen Wilson and John Michael Car-roll.
