UPDATE: Gainesville Harris Teeter structurally sound

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Fire officials evacuated the Harris Teeter grocery store in Gainesville on Tuesday after concerns about the roof collapsing.

Firefighters were called to the store at 7910 Crescent Park Drive about 5 p.m. after reports of a cracked ceiling. The store was evacuated a short time later and building inspectors were called to see if it is structurally safe.

By 7 p.m., the store was deemed safe. Ice and snow build up had caused a crack near the seafood department, but nothing that would cause a collapse, officials said. The store is back in business.
