Haymarket calls for candidates

Deadlines are approaching for Haymarket residents who want to serve the town on one of three boards.

The town needs to fill vacancies on its planning commission and architectural review board.

Candidates interested in serving on those boards, which review proposals for construction and development in the town, should contact the town clerk's office by March 1.

In addition to those vacancies, all six seats on the town council and the mayor's seat will be up for election this spring.

March 2 is the deadline for candidates for town council to file with the Virginia State Board of Elections.

In Haymarket, the mayor and town council members serve four-year terms.

This year, the election will be held May 4. Town residents vote at PACE West School in Haymarket.

All positions are open to residents of the town of Haymarket.The town has about 1,000 residents.
