Dale City residents Walter and Zena Ruf have launched a 12-week nonprofit course that will offer guidance on long term weight management, including information, nutrition and exercise. Participants will get a free body analysis, learn about portion control, how to shop, dining out tips and more. During the 12 weeks educational materials will be supplied and prizes will be awarded. There is a one-time fee of $39 for each participant that will cover the prize for the top three losers, a donation to charity and administrative costs. Participants will weigh in each week. The top three losers, based on percentage of body weight lost, will share the prize pot. The percentage measure makes it an equal competition for both men and women. For more information, contact the Ruf's at 703-583-8101.
