WOODBRIDGE, Va.-- A New Jersey man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found in a trash can near a busy Starbucks off Prince William Parkway.
The body was discovered about 8 a.m. at 2447 Prince William Parkway near Interstate 95. Police did not say who made the discovery, or exactly where the body was found. But many at Starbucks for morning coffee witnessed police swarming the scene.
Franklin Camacho Jr., 40, of Perth Amboy, N.J. was arrested on Thursday morning and charged later in the day with murder, according to the Middlesex County, N.J. prosecutor's office. He was picked up by New Jersey state police as he returned from Virginia, a press release stated.
The victim's name and age are being withheld pending notification of her next of kin. Police are awaiting an autopsy to determine the woman's cause of death.
New Jersey detectives say the victim was attacked in Perth Amboy sometime on Tuesday and placed in the trash can there.
The victim had been reported missing, according to the press release, and police conducted a search warrant at what they believe was the place of attack.
Early Thursday, New Jersey state police learned that Camacho had driven to Virginia and was headed back to his home state, the release stated. He was stopped on the New Jersey Turnpike near Hamilton at 6 a.m.
Two hours later, the woman's body was found off Prince William Parkway.
Camacho is being held without bail in New Jersey.
Perth Amboy is located 234 miles from Woodbridge.
