Here's the good news. It's nice to read in the News & Messenger that the Manassas housing market is getting a housing project (Lee Square) that now has a good chance of being completed, adding 140 condo units to the available real estate.
Now the bad news. I may not be the arbiter of taste, but the picture shown is one of the least imaginative designs I've ever run across -- a big, almost featureless box with a simple roof line, fake dormers, and a gable and bay or two.
It's the architectural equivalent of Mr. Potato Head. A six-year-old with a pile of Legos would probably come up with more style. Functional, maybe? Cheap-looking? yes! But it's more a tribute to the lack of imagination in both the architect who designed it and the officials who approved it. To me, it's an instant eyesore. As a community, we deserve more and can do much better.
