On the front page of Sunday's paper under "Five Things You Should Know" the writer heads the piece with the title, "This is What's Wrong with the Economy."
How is it that NBC paying Conan O'Brien $33 million not to work or The Kansas City Royals paying $3 million to Rick Ankiel, a player linked to steroids, negatively affects the economy?
All that headline does is create and foster more class envy for no other purpose than to divide us with the intent of putting our focus on things that do not matter.
Actually, this is what's wrong with the News & Messenger. I shouldn't be surprised; your paper is liberal leaning and therefore either unwilling or unable to understand capitalism. Your default mindset is the tired and well-worn class envy mantra that every other liberal rag espouses.
No, what is wrong with our economy is that my government is taking my money and propping up banks, insurance companies, the car industries, the unions and themselves. Currently they are attempting to take over the health care industry as well. These activities do not stimulate the economy, they wreck it.
In a capitalistic society it doesn't matter what NBC or the Kansas City Royals spend their money on. It is their money and their stockholders' money. If the stockholders don't like it or if the public does not like it, there will be a price to pay.
However, when the government taxes me and then spends my money on unconstitutional or extra-constitutional endeavors, that costs me and my grand children plenty.
