Manassas, Va. - Air conditioning problems moved Seton High School's graduation from Manassas to Gainesville on Tuesday night, but all 65 seniors still got their diplomas.
The commencement Mass and graduation exercise for the private school took place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville, instead of All Saints Catholic Church in the city.
Father James Searby, parochial vicar for the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, told the graduates "I'm honored to be your main celebrant tonight."
In his talk, Searby stressed to seniors to "strive for excellency in everything you do. Plan for great-ness. Don't accept anything less. As you grow older, stop and help anyone who needs it ... it will make you feel better."
The salutatory address was given by Mary Louise Fowler, who said "I hope we will stay close to-gether for the the rest of our lives ... and that we will do great things."
The commencement address was given by Del. Robert Marshall, R-13 District, who told graduates that "a strong faith is relevant to the students personal and public lives as it was relevant to the personal and public lives of our founding fathers."
He added: "God governs in the affairs of men."
The valedictory address was by William Leslie Baker who noted how much the students had grown, devel-oping spectacularly, in their years at the school "and now you are graduates looking to your fu-tures... God Bless you all."
