Prince William County, Va. -- Prince William police Chief Charlie T. Deane recently announced several promotions, including Maj. Barry M. Barnard to lieutenant colonel; Capt. Mike E. Crosbie to major; and Capt. Timothy A. Rudy to major.
Barnard has more than 35 years of law enforcement experience, beginning with the Alexandria Police Department in 1974. He joined the county police in 1976.
During his tenure, Barnard has been a key leader in the development and implementation of new programs. He is the deputy chief of police.
Crosbie has 30 years of law enforcement experience, all with the Prince William department. He is the assistant chief for the Criminal Investigations Division.
Rudy has 31 years of law enforcement experience, all with the county police department. He is the assistant chief for the
Deane also announced the promotions of Lt. Kevin L. Hughart, Lt. Greg P. Smith and Lt. Steven J. Thompson to captains.
Promoted to lieutenants were 1st Sgt. Erik J. Barnhart, 1st Sgt. Philip J. Cecere Jr. and 1st Sgt. Daniel M. Hess.
Sgt. Shana A. Hrubes, Sgt. Michael H. Hustwayte, Sgt. Anthony W. Notarantonio, Sgt. Shawn M. Peak and Sgt. Gary J. Spina were promoted to first sergeants.
Promoted to sergeants were Detective
Christopher C. Bradford and Officers Daniel J. Crawford, Mark A. Depatie, Rhonda L. Dickson, Jerry L. Mackling, Christopher L. Rice and K. Kent Williams.
School crossing guard Michelle A. Wheeler was promoted to crossing guard sergeant.
Deane also announced the following promotions: Accounting assistant II Dorothy J. DeWolfe to accounting services coordinator I; administrative support assistant III Dianne E. Goulla to administrative support coordinator I; public safety services
technician Patricia R. Shore to information and referral specialist; public safety services technician Patrick A. Donovan to crime analyst; telecommunicator III Patricia Davis to assistant shift supervisor/CAD administrator; CAD administrator Michele Surdam to technical program supervisor; telecommunicator I Altheia K. Adusei to telecommunicator II; and telecommunicator I Kelly L. McMahon to telecommunicator II.
