Prince William County is among the nation’s 25 richest.

According to Forbes, the median household income in Prince William, with a population of 358,719, was $88,876 in 2008.
Prince William Chairman Corey A. Stewart said he wasn’t surprised at the ranking and said the county is moving up.
“The last time I think we were number 19,” Stewart said.
Stewart said he wouldn’t be surprised if more recent numbers showed Prince William with an even higher rating.
“We’ve got a lower unemployment rate and a more stable economy than other parts of the country,” Stewart said.
Ranking in the 14th spot was good news for the county, Stewart said.
“It’s an indication that the county is finally finding its place, and retailers in particular are beginning to catch on and that’s why you’ve had this explosion in new high-end retail in Prince William County,” Stewart said.
Stewart cited low taxes, a well-educated work force and a pro-business climate for the county’s five-spot jump on the list.
“All the pieces are there to make this Prince William’s decade,” Stewart said.
