Meeting to discuss rezoning of vacant lot in Manassas

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A citizens' meeting relating to the rezoning of the vacant property bordered by Grant Ave., Orchard Lane and Dumfries Road will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Manassas' Council Chambers.

A public hearing is scheduled on the rezoning request Monday at 7 p.m. in council cham-bers.

A rezoning request for this property was originally submitted to the city more than five years ago. The request was to rezone the site from residential to commercial. After six public hearings, the request was denied in October 2005. The request was turned down primarily because it was determined non-compliant with the city's comprehensive plan.

The current request is similar to the initial request, except that the applicant has included most of the proffers requested by the city, area residents and property owners.

Original plans had requested that a bank, drug store and retail stores be built on the site.
