Manassas, Va. - A Manassas company is among the best in the world's largest and longest running water tasting competition.
For the last three years, Almost Heaven Natural Spring Water has placed in the top five in the Bottled Non-Carbonated division at the Berkeley Springs, W.Va., International Water Tasting.
More than 100 waters from around the world competed in the Feb. 27 event, including entries from Canada, New Zealand, Japan, China and Italy.
The testing resembled a wine tasting where the waters were examined for clarity, smell, taste, mouth feel and aftertaste.
Almost Heaven was awarded the bronze medal this year, finishing behind Ecoviva, Roscommon, Mich., and Eldorado Natural Spring water, Eldorado Spring, Colo.
Founded in Manassas in 1973, Virginia Water Conditioning Corporation has been supplying Almost Heaven water to the Northern Virginia area since 1984. Their water is drawn directly from the springs that surface in Berkeley Spring State Park that is owned and operated by the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. The waters flow at a constant 74 degrees from the base of Warm Spring Ridge. Visitors can still fill their jugs at Lord Fairfax's public tap at no charge and wade in the ancient stone pools at the state park.
"Almost Heaven is
dedicated to excellence and customer service. Our placement in this year's competition once again demonstrates our commitment to quality and consistency in our award winning water. Over the past three years, we are the only company that has consistently placed in the top five finisher's internationally," said Russell Carolla, president of Virginia Water Conditioning.
