LAKE RIDGE, Va. -- Police are revisiting the case of an October home invasion that happened in the same Lake Ridge neighborhood where on Thursday a young woman was attacked by intruders in search of drugs.
Two men broke into a home in the 12100 block of Presidio Way, off of Cotton Mill Drive, about 1 p.m. Oct. 21.
Police said the two men walked up to the home, one of them wearing a backpack, and through a window told a man who lives there they were selling CDs. The man said he was not interested, but when one of the men promised him a free CD, the victim met the two at his front door where they forced their way inside, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.
A fight broke once the men got inside and the 21-year-old victim was able to put one of the intruders into a headlock. The detained man then yelled for help, and the accomplice who came to his aid pulled out a gun and hit the victim, causing a gash in his head, said Hernandez.
The man then dropped the gun and took off running. The other culprit, now free of the headlock, picked up the weapon and also fled. The victim was not seriously injured.
During Thursday’s home invasion, police said two men broke into another home in the 12100 block of Presidio Way, at 12:40 p.m.
The 29-year-old mother told police she heard noises coming from the rear of her home. When she went to the ground floor to investigate, she found two men had kicked in the door and had forced their way inside.
When inside, the two forced her into her bedroom where they made her lie face down on the floor and then demanded drugs. When they didn’t find any, they took a laptop from the home and fled.
Police said they had the wrong house.
The brazen daylight incident happened as the woman’s 3-week-old baby girl, 2-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy napped. The mother was not seriously injured, said Hernandez.
The woman was so shaken she had a difficult time giving police descriptions of her attackers, Hernandez said. She told officers the intruders were black and wore dark clothes.
In October, the victim said his attackers were also black, about 18 to 25 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with medium builds. One of the men was wearing black hooded sweatshirt, a black hat, or do-rag, blue jeans and a black backpack. The second had on a black shirt and blue jeans.
