MANASSAS, Va. -- An Air Force sergeant has been arrested after agreeing to meet what he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex, police said.
An investigator posing as an underage girl online began an instant message chat with a man, who agreed to meet the girl in Manassas for what he thought was going to be a sexual encounter, said city police spokesman Sgt. Tim Neumann.
When the man arrived, police arrested Senior Master Sergeant Leon Henderson, of 5505 Hinton Street in Springfield, and charged him with attempted indecent liberties with a minor, police said.
He was held on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Prince William County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
An Air Force spokeswoman could not immediately say if Henderson had been suspended from active military duty.
The investigation was conducted with members of the Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Air Force’s Office of Special Investigations.
