DALE CITY, Va. -- A man has been charged in a brazen daylight home invasion last week in Lake Ridge.
Police have charged 29-year-old Shyreece Noreid Brown, of the 3400 block of Braddock Road in Dale City, with breaking into a townhome in the 12100 block of Presidio Way, off Cotton Mill Drive, about 12:40 p.m. Thursday.
Once inside, he and another man forced a 29-year-old mother upstairs into her bedroom, made her lie on the floor and then demanded drugs. While one man held her down, another searched the home, all while the woman’s three children -- a 3-week-old baby, a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old -- were asleep in another room, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.
When they found nothing, both fled the scene. Police said they had the wrong house. The woman and her children were not injured.
The home invasion began when victim heard noises coming from the rear of her house and went to investigate. She was then confronted by two men who forced her back inside of her townhome.
Police officers searched the neighborhood that day but were unable to find the two men.
Investigators obtained search warrants for Brown’s home and arrested him late Tuesday night, charging him with conspiracy to commit a felony, statutory burglary, robbery, abduction, destruction of property and assault, Hernandez said.
He was held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 3.
Police are still searching for the second man believed to be involved in this case.
