Woodbridge, Va. - A 16-year-old girl locked herself and her 4-year-old nephew in a bedroom Saturday as a man cut the power to their house and attempted to get inside.
The frightened girl called police to the 16900 block of Winston Lane in Woodbridge about 12:45 p.m. When officers got to the house, they saw a man running away and chased him, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez. He was caught at the River Woods Apartments complex.
Investigators said Irvin Ramon Lambert, 51, of 16560 Nanticoke Way smashed a basement win-dow at the home and then tampered with the electrical box. A pair of wire cutters and latex gloves were found on Lambert, said Hernandez.
The girl and boy were not injured.
As police were handcuffing Lambert, the homeowner and girl's father, Reginald T. Ander-son, 44, walked up and kicked Lambert in the face, said Hernandez.
Lambert was treated for his injuries at the scene. He was charged with statutory burglary, pos-session of burglarious tools, resisting arrest, eluding police and destruction of property. He was held without bond.
Anderson was charged with assault and battery.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court April 27.
