JARRATT, Va. -- Paul Warner Powell is spending his last hours with family and his attorneys, officials said.
The 31-year-old is scheduled to die at 9 p.m. tonight in Virginia's electric chair.
This morning, Powell met with his immediate family, Virginia Department of Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor said.
He is expected to meet with his attorneys later this afternoon, Traylor said.
Powell made a last meal request, but asked it that it not be made public, Traylor said.
Powell was sentenced to die for killing 16-year-old Stacie Reed at her family's Yorkshire area home on Jan. 29, 1999.
He was also convicted of raping and attempting to kill her younger sister, then 14-year-old Kristie, who survived.
Kristie Reed, now 25, plans to witness tonight's execution with her mother, Lorraine Reed Whoberry.
