BRISTOW, Va. -- A 38-year-old Chantilly man has been arrested in connection with the attempted abduction of a Bristow teen earlier this week.

Detectives with Prince William County's Crimes Against Children Unit on Friday charged Charles Murphy Doggett with abduction with intent to defile and burglary with intent to commit rape, police said.

The 16-year-old victim walked out of her house on Saybrooke Drive about 6:40 a.m. Monday to go to school when a man grabbed her arm and dragged her into her house, police said. The girl screamed and the family dog barked, scaring the man away.

The victim went to school and reported the incident to her school resource officer.

Detectives worked on the case through the week. On Friday, Doggett turned himself in at the police station in Manassas.

It was unclear late Friday if Doggett knew the girl or had any connection to her neighborhood.
