A car slammed into a Woodbridge home early Thursday, damaging the house and displacing the occupants, police said.
Police were called to 15034 Alabama Ave., at 12:04 a.m., where they a 2003 Nissan Sentra had hit the house, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
Police said that Richard Joseph Cormier, 23, of 15036 Alabama Ave., was traveling in excess of the posted speed limit when he lost control of the car and hit the house.
The Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene and found that there was “significant” damage to the house, according to a volunteer fire department press release.
No one in the house was injured, but the building was deemed uninhabitable by a Prince William County Building Inspector, the release stated.
The Prince William Chapter of the American Red Cross assisted the residents with temporary housing.
The OWL Volunteer Fire Department Collapse Rescue Team shored the damaged portions of the house to protect against further loss or damage to the property, the release stated.
Police arrested Cormier and charged him with driving while intoxicated, Perok said.
A court date and bond information were not available.
